The background story details the rise and fall of the Warmaster Horus and his turn to the evil forces of Chaos, which he ultimately regrets. Together with the hight cost, that’s always made it hard to get into for more casual fans, with a huge complexity of rules that have long been in need of some tweaking. 1 slugfest between two players that know their Warhammer lore. The Horus Heresy is a game that’s been around, in one form or another, since 2012 and is designed as 1 vs. You might be keen to start playing Warhammer 40,00 but what if you and your best friend both want to be Space Marines? Well, now there’s a new wonderfully rebalanced solution. Visit any gaming café or Warhammer shop and you’ll see elaborate terrain awash with Space Marines moving in tactical units, fighting alien hordes such as Tyranids or the elf-like Eldar with assault rifles equipped with chainsaw bayonets (yes, that’s where Gears Of War got the idea from). The loyal Space Marines have always been the face of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise and are one of the main reasons that creator Games Workshop is so popular at the moment. GameCentral takes a look at the latest edition of Warhammer 40K: The Horus Hersey and its newly improved two-player battles. (I realize that this means that we’re going to be choking up another $50 per book, or $100 if we want to split our Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness boxed set into two opposing armies. But at least it seems like you don’t need a special codex for each Legion. Next up we see that, of course, there will be more books to buy.
I totally realize that they are going to be making a much smaller profit margin on this box, and that they’re doing so with the express purpose of getting people into the game–so they can snag you into buying some of the other kits. They haven’t confirmed the price for this massive box yet, but they do say “we can confirm that the set will cost less than £200 or $300 (US) when it launches.” To think that all of this stuff is going to be cheaper, or on par with, the Necromunda Ash Wastes box just goes to show how overpriced the Ash Wastes box is. Finally, we get the line that everyone has been waiting to hear.
